Cancer chemoprevention can be classified into primary secondary or tertiary depending on whether or not the patient has developed cancer and on the level of the patient's risk. Inflammation seems to be a common denominator in both carcinogenesis and DM type II pathogenesis. I am currently collaborating with colleagues in the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Jordan and the Cancer Chemoprevention Program at the Hollings Cancer Center, Charleston SC, USA to optimize the use of select herbal supplements as adjunct therapy to the standard chemotherapeutic regimes of patients with common cancers. The ultimate goal is to improve the efficacy of the chemotherapeutic regimes. On the other hand, the possible roles of plants native to Jordan in the management of inflammation, DM type II and dyslipidemia are currently investigated by our research team. In fact, our team has published several articles in the latter fields. Further, a second focus in our research is to  investigate the use of herbal supplements to alleviate the side effects of cancer chemotherapy in cancer patients prior to and post metastasis.
