I am called upon frequently to speak about the opportunities and challenegs for Higher Education in Jordan, both in the country and abroad, to local, regional and international audiences.

Since the early 1990s, I have been writing a weekly (then bi-weekly) article in the English Daily Jordan Times in a column entitled "View from Academia." While the column addresses a variety of topics, I write often in it about education and higher education. 
  
I have headed the revision Committee of English curricula at the Ministry of Education which looks carefully at the authored books drafts to make sure they achieve the learning outcomes and adhere to academic and cultural standards.
  
I speak often to audiences from the country and abroad on the salient aspects of modern-day Arab-Islamic culture.
  
I speak often to audiences in Jordan and the Arab World on a variety of themes pertaining to English/American/World literature.
  
I am called upon by several national, regional, and international journals to referee articles submitted for publication in the fields of English/American/World literature and translation. 
  
I am called upon often by universities in Jordan, in the region, and abroad, to referee promotions to the ranks of assistant and associate professor in the fields of English/American/Comparative literature and translation.
  
I have headed several ad hoc committees for the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to look into or follow up a number of matters pertaining to teaching, research, students and staff mobility, curricula, and equivalence of certificates.
  
I have headed, or acted as a member in, several committees which accredited a number of programs in English Language, Linguistics, Literature, and Translation at several Jordanian universities.
  
I have often been asked to act as MC for a number of High-Level national and international conferences on education and higher education, in Arabic and English.
  
I have acted as advisor to the Ministry of Higher Education for a number of years (2004-2009), especially with respect to international cooperation.
  
I produced and presented a TV talk called "Challenges" for two years (1996-1998) for the (then) second channel of Jordan TV. In it, we discussed a number of social, political , and educational, issues -- from an academic viewpoint.
  
Since November 2009, I have been a member of the Higher Education Council which regulates and enforces policies for all national universities and colleges.
  
Since November 2007, I have been a member of the Royal Avisory Commission for General Education, which offers ideas on improvement, development and reform of the school education system in the country.
  
Since September 2008, I have been member of the Board of Trustees of Queen Rania Teacher Training Academy, which offers high-caliber training to teachers in cooperation with Teachers' College, Columbia.
