About Me

Dr. Fritz-Ababneh got all her degrees from the University of the Saarland, Saarbrücken, Germany, but she studied two semesters abroad, one at the University of Lyon in France and one at the University of Bilbao in Spain. While working on her Ph.D., she worked several years at the Department of Romance Languages of the University of the Saarland as a member of a research project about the French Popular Novel which resulted in a major publication of which she was one of three coauthors. Upon graduation with a Ph.D. in French Literature about Paul Féval and the French Feuilleton Novel, she was appointed at the University of Jordan, where she has taught since then; first as a language instructor at the Language Center, then as an assistant professor in the newly created Department of Modern Languages and from 1997 on at the then newly created Department of French. She was promoted to the rank of Associate Professor in 2007. She has actively participated in the creation of the B. A. program of French Language and Literature in 1987 and in all further study plans which enhanced the program. She has been chairperson of the Department of French from 1997 to 2000, from 2002 to 2006 and from 2010 till now. She was appointed Assistant Dean for International and Joint Programs for the academic year 2007/2008 and she was Vice Dean of the newly created Faculty of Foreign Languages from 2008 to 2011. As an instructor, Dr. Fritz-Ababneh teaches a wide variety of courses in the fields of Literature (all levels from Introduction to Literary Analysis over Literary History from the beginnings to Modern Age to more specialized courses), Language (Grammar, Syntax) and French for Specific Purposes (Tourism, Business). Her latest research papers focus on intertextuality in French, francophone and international literature, feminine literature, 20th Century Novel and French for Specific Purposes. She is a recipient of several research and study grants in France.
