Dr. Hanan Sa’adeh and Physics Students “Islam Bazlamit, Sara Aburugia, and Aminah Eniyazi” represented the University of Jordan at the Fourth Regional Lab Immersion Program (RLIP 2016), at Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS), Lahore, Pakistan, from 17 to 22 December 2016.
At the opening session of the regional event, Dr. Sa’adeh delivered a talk "Experimental Physics: An Artistic Life from Teaching to Research". As a UJ faculty member, enjoying teaching and research, Dr. Sa'adeh spoke from her heart and shed light on live examples from UJ where Physics meets art in education and research. According to Dr. Muhammad Sabieh Anwar, the chief organizer of RLIP and the founder and team leader at the PhysLab, “Dr. Sa’adeh connected the pursuit of physics with the search for aesthetic quality, and eventually rendered the experimental physicist into an artist”*.
Additionally, Master student Sara Aburugia delivered a presentation about “Physics Virtual labs” highlighting some examples of using virtual experiments in teaching introductory physics labs at UJ, in her role as a teaching assistant in Physics Lab 112.
Islam Bazlamit, a Bachelor Student and member of LAMBDA Physics Group at UJ, delivered a presentation about "Ibn Al-Haytham's Camera Obscura at the University of Jordan", a student research project funded by the Deanship of Academic Research at UJ and supervised by Dr. Sa'adeh.
Besides her participation in RLIP, Dr. Sa’adeh visited research and teaching laboratories at LUMS School of Science and Engineering, and discussed issues of common concern in physics with researchers there.
