Biographical Sketch

 

Dr. Muhannad Ismeik is currently a faculty member at the Civil Engineering Department at the University of Jordan and senior advisor to several firms and organizations. He obtained his Ph.D. degree with honors from American Robert College in 1996. He was a postdoctoral research associate and a visiting professor at Montana State University at Bozeman between 1996 and 2000.

Dr. Ismeik has more than 15 years of professional instructional, management, training, and consulting experience in the fields of geotechnical and foundation engineering, materials and concrete engineering, and transportation engineering. His areas of expertise include designing with geosynthetics, geotechnical testing and investigations, foundation design, materials inspection and testing, concrete mix design, high strength concrete, quality control, pavement design, and traffic safety.

Dr. Ismeik has published numerous technical papers in refereed journals and international conferences, and authored a chapter in a reference book about geosynthetics. He was a keynote and invited speaker in various classrooms, local and international workshops and conferences. He is a certified trainer for Education for Employment (EFE) institute, US, and INJAZ organization, Jordan.

Dr. Ismeik is a peer reviewer for ASTM Geotechnical Testing Journal, Geosynthetics International Journal, and International Journal of Modeling and Simulations. He is a member of several professional associations including the International Geosynthetics Society (IGS), United States Universities Council on Geotechnical Education and Research (USUCGER), Transportation Research Board (TRB) subcommittee on Geosynthetics A2K07(2), Jordan Engineers Association (JEA), Jordan Road Society (JRS), and Jordan Society for Prevention of Road Accidents (JSPRA).
