This research investigates the motivation of tourists in a geotourism context. This study provides an initial investigation into tourist‟s motivations and the relationship between these motivations and the behavioural intention of the tourists to revisit a geosite. It utilises a self-determination theory approach and was conducted at Crystal Cave, Yanchep National Park, which is located near Perth in Western Australia. The main findings of the study were that relaxation, escape from the daily routine, sense of wonder and knowledge are the major intrinsic motivations. There was also a positive correlation between intrinsic motivation and behavioural intention to revisit the geosite.
