The course will introduce the principles and process of normal development, fine and gross movement development, and atypical development. The family centered-care and the ICF models will be used to introduce assessment and evaluation measures to plan therapeutic intervention strategies for the pediatric population. The course will cover selected medical conditions specific to the certain pediatric population such as cerebral palsy. Current procedural interventions will be introduced and applications will be discussed. The course will have both theoretical and practical components.
Year 3

• The pediatric clinical training will add to previous knowledge and skills the students acquired through Pediatric physiotherapy 1 & 2 courses. Students will develop their competence in critical thinking and clinical decision-making with respect to a variety of pediatric pathologies such as cerebral palsy, spina bifida, genetic disorders, musculoskeletal disorders, and cardiopulmonary disorders.
• The course will focus on the clinical applications of the motor control/learning theories, family-centered care, and participation-based therapy in pediatrics.
• The assessment and therapeutic intervention strategies for selected pediatric population will be stressed.
• Students will be exposed to different settings which are: acute care, school settings, and community centers. In each setting, the students will be expected to perform a complete assessment and provide quality services for children and their families.

The course introduces to students the basic principles of rehabilitation medicine, and explains team work and the role of each member of the rehabilitation team in the evaluation and management of the patient, and their relation to each other.
First year- rehabilitation students

The aim of the module is to provide students with the basic knowledge of biostatistics.
This module focuses on the understanding of different statistical tests to enable the student to read and understand the research papers.

This course will cover common pediatric disorders related to muscular, musculoskeletal, neuromuscular and cardiopulmonary systems. It will provide a description of the course, clinical features, physical examination and the common rehabilitation approaches of certain pediatric disorders. Students will also have weekly labs and/or supervised clinical training in paediatric in/outpatient and school settings.
Fourth year

This course consists of a mixture of theoretical and practical learning experiences designed to fulfil the needs of the student in the critical evaluation and physiotherapy management of the patient with either acute or chronic cardiac, vascular, respiratory, neurological, and/or musculoskeletal dysfunction commonly treated in the acute care (hospital) setting Assessment and treatment of acutely ill patients safely requires integrating the patient history with current lab values, diagnostic test results, and an understanding of how their current medications affect status. Therapists need to identify signs of patient instability and know how to modify or to terminate treatment when necessary and how to mobilize them safely and early. This course provides therapists with that knowledge with a goal of preventing or reversing the deconditioning often seen in the acute care and ICU setting. Case studies will be used for clinical problem solving in order to improve functional outcomes with multiple diagnoses commonly seen.
Fourth year

this course will advance student’s knowledge of design and research methods commonly used to inform physiotherapy practice. A focus of the course is on research training in different research methods used to explore aspects of interdisciplinary rehabilitation. Nature of scientific inquiry, hierarchy of evidence, and different research design and application of statistical techniques are also addressed. Students will have the opportunities to critically appraise qualitative and quantitative research methods and designs in Neuromusculoskeletal physiotherapy.
