I am Dr. Mutasem O. Taha , Professor of medicinal chemistry and drug design at the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the Faculty of Pharmacy/University of Jordan.
I received my Pharmacy B.Sc. degree from The University of Jordan in 1992. In 1994 and 1998, I earned my M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees, respectively, in Medicinal Chemistry from Loughborough University of Technology /United Kingdom. In 1998 ,I was appointed as assistant professor at the faculty of pharmacy/The University of Jordan. I was promoted to associate professor in 2003 and to full professor in 2008.
I am currently interested in the areas of developing new polymeric materials for drug delivery and applications of molecular modeling techniques in drug design and pharmaceutics. I am particularly interested in the development of novel ligand-based strategies for assessing molecular flexibility of binding sites of various interesting enzymes and receptors (e.g., see here). I have special interest in cancer, diabetes and obesity.
Currently, I am the head person of the Drug Discovery Unit at the Facuty of Pharmacy - University of Jordan.
