Bilal completed his PhD in Information Systems (with a focus on Social Big Data Analytics) in Curtin University and holds a Master and Bachelor in Computer Science both with First Class Honours. He taught several postgrad and undergrad subjects such as; Data Mining and Business Intelligence, Knowledge Management and Intelligent systems, Introduction to Information Systems, Business Application Design and Business Applications.Bilal has also worked with cross-disciplinary funded research projects which are related to data analytics, machine learning, data mining of social media, big data analysis etc. Those projects are involved with academic research and also involved software development and industrial implementation. Examples of these projects include:
- Machine learning-based recommendation system for therapy on-the-go: a smartphone app to reduce self-injury,
- Semantic Data Extraction from Social Big Data Incorporating Machine Learning,
- Analysis of Users' Trustworthiness in Social Big Data.
Bilal's research interest includes Data Science, Social Big Data, Social Trust, Machine Learning/Data Mining, Semantic Analytics, Information Retrieval, Distributed Computing etc.
