The broad interest is to study the relation in between biochemical macromolecules and their function with special concentration on enzymes. Unravelling the relation is experimented through a broad range of biochemical, biophysical and molecular biology approaches. Specifically, the interest to elucidate enzyme mechanisms, mechanisms of posttranslational modification of proteins, biological energy metabolism and the effect of specific heriditary disorders on the protein/enzyme level. Studying enzymes will involve unravelling the enzyme kinetics, the catalytic process, the involvment of post-translational modifications if any, the transfer of reactive electrons in between proteins and the activation of molecular oxygen if involved. The understanding of these processes will broaden our knowledge of the enzymology field, cancer, mitochondrial myopathies, the oxidative stress, many disease states, and aging.

Intensive research is planned to assess the medical education process that we have at the Faculty of Medicine/University of Jordan. Speciall emphasis will be given to biochemistry education. The assessment will unravel where we are worldwide, what defects do we have and what steps we can do to make the medical educational process better.
