Bio: Vassilios Ikonomidis has been teaching at the University of Jordan since October 2002 and he has been the coordinator of the Greek program offered by the Department of European Languages for the aforementioned period. After having accomplished his undergraduate studies in Greek Philology and History (1989) and his M.A. research on the discourse of nationalism (1991), he pursued his studies at the University of Birmingham (U.K.) and obtained his M.Soc.Sc. (1993) in Cultural Studies. His research field has been the formation of cultural identity and its expression in literature and public representations. In August 2002 he was selected by the special committee of the Greek Ministry of Education to teach Greek language and culture in institutions of higher education abroad. He published translations of theory of historiography and history, focusing on the 19th and 20th centuries. He also published poetry and prose in Greek literary magazines. He speaks Greek, English, French, and some Arabic. Among his interests, writing, blogging and visual arts are included.
