| | The course introduces students to Spanish literature in general. Reading of various literary texts will be based on representative texts in order to familiarize students with literary terminology and the methods of text interpretation and make them realize the importance of general knowledge for literature. Students will learn to work in groups. Through their group discussions and short presentations about the read materials they will display better cross-cultural communication skills via comparing different cultures. Besides acquiring theoretical knowledge about Spanish literature, the students are expected to continue improving their language competence. Discussions about the studied materials and oral & written interpretations are main parts of the intended communicative lecture. After situating contemporary Spain in her ideological and political context, participants proceed to analyze the nation's intellectual, social and human development. | | This course gives a general overview of Spanish-American literature from its beginning in the 15th century until the 20th century. It concentrates on a selection of masterpieces in novel, poetry and/or short stories e.g. Ruben Dario, Pablo Neruda, Jorge Luis Borges, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, etc., and also introduces students to the differences between Latin-American Spanish and Spanish language in Spain. | Tercer o Cuarto Ano/ Third or Fourth Year |
| | In this course participants are introduced to characteristics of different kinds of media. Students receive an overview about different categories of newspapers and magazines. The different kinds of newspapers and magazines are described; background information about different products of the press is acquired. | | The participants should intensively tackle with Spanish in the Field of Tourism. At the beginning of the course, students listen to descriptions of different kinds of journeys. Advantages and disadvantages of different ways of travelling are discussed. Reading and discussing prospects the learners collect information on sights and monuments in Jordan. Students are then asked to give short presentations or these sights and monuments. The special vocabulary necessary to describe archaeological places should be acquired.

| | The course is regarded as a continuation for the other two Spanish courses (Spanish for Beginners 1 & 2); it trains the four language skills, listening comprehension, writing, reading and oral skills, on a more advanced level. After finishing this course, the student will be able to act with self-assurance in everyday life situations. | | At the end of the second semester the students take the Spanish Proficiency Test (SPT). Those who pass the test should be able to follow the second year courses which will be taught entirely in Spanish. Those who do not pass take this course which is meant to fill the gap between first year general language courses and second year more specialized courses. In this course the student has to acquire the language proficiency to be able to follow the second year courses.
