About Me

I was borne in Nablus/Jordan in 1954. I got my B.Sc. and M.Sc. from the University of Jordan in 1977, 1979, respectively. The M.Sc. thesis was related to the Jordanian oil shale, where geochemical and petrographic analyses have been carried out. The PhD was obtained from the Technical University of Braunschweig, Germany in 1987. The dissertation was dealing with the sedimentology, petrography, diagenesis, and geochemistry of the Cambrian-Upper Cretaceous clastic and carbonate sequence. I taught one semester at the Tafila Technical University in 1987/1988, then joined Garyounis University in Benghazy, Libya between 1988 and 1991. From 1991 until now, I am working at the Department of Applied and Environmental Geology, Jordan University. Based upon research in sedimentology of sandstone and conglomerate, light and heavy mineral petrology, diagenesis of siliciclastic and carbonate sedimentary rocks, isotopic dating of glaucony, geochemistry of sandstones, mudrocks, carbonates and phosphorites I was promoted to Associate Professor and Full Professor in 1996 and 2001, respectively.
