On Tuesday, Jan,19th 2011, under the patronage of the vice presidents of UJ, namely Professor Basheer Al-Zoubi, Professor Abed Kharabsheh, Professor Hala Khyami-Horani, and Professor Rida A.Shibli, and the Executive Director of the Russkiy Mir Foundation, Mr. Vyacheslav Nikonov, and with the presence of Dean of the Faculty of Foreign Languages (FFL), Professor Tawfiq Yousef, vice and assistant deans and heads of departments FFL held the inauguration ceremony of the Russian lab in the faculty’s building. The lab, which contributes to promoting the strong ties between the two countries, aims to support the BA program in Russian/English launched at FFL in 2010/2011 with the enrollment of (42) students. In Addition, this step asserts that FFL gives a priority to using state of the art technology particularly in teaching and learning foreign languages. It is worth noting that the lab, which is the first Russian lab in the Arab World and the sixty eighth in the world, is a grant from Russkiy Mir Foundation. It consists of a library, a television set, (22) computers, references and magazines. Following the ceremony Mr. Vyacheslav Nikonov gave a lecture on the Political and Economic Status of Russia in the World.
