Education

Ph.D. in Public Administration from Golden Gate University, San Francisco, California, 1988. 

MA in Public Administration from University of Southern California, 1983.

BA in English and Education from Yarmouk University, Jordan in 1980.

 

 Teaching and Administrative Experience

Currently Chairman of the Department of public Administration, faculty of Business. Jordan University.

2007 – 2009 Educational Consultant, Questar Assessment Center, Apple Valley, Minnesota, USA. 

2007 - 2008 Vice Dean, Faculty of Business, University of Jordan. 

2005 – 2006 Chairman of the Department of Public Administration, Faculty of Business Administration, University of Jordan. 

2003 – 2006 Associate Professor and Representative of the Department at the Faculty of Business Committee, Department of Public Administration, Faculty of Business Administration, University of Jordan.

For each course, developed a syllabus and a study plan and material, lectures and homework assignments. Prepared exams and corrected them. 

Was chairman of the Department of Public Administration from 2004 to 2005.

Supervised and mentored students in the Masters program.

Presented a paper about the Effect of Using Information Technology in the Public Sector in Jordan, at the first international conference held at the Faculty of Business Administration, at Jordan University, in 2004.

Participated at other Universities as a member of various Assessment Committees to pass or fail Masters students’ dissertations.

Was a member of the faculty committee for developing library resources for the University of Jordan.

Was a member of a team selected by the President of the University to develop a compensation system for the non-academic employees of the university.

Was a member of a committee to plan scientific events for the faculty, held one week annually.

Was a representative of the Department of Public Administration at the Faculty Council for 4 years.

 

Consulting Experience

 

Conducted various training seminars for public and private organizations in Jordan such as Pepsi Cola, Jordan Steel Company, Shmeisani hospital, Bank of Jordan, Jordan Telecommunications, Jordan Aviation Authority, Jordan Customs Department and Greater Amman Municipality.

Participated as a mentor to a project about motivating health employees in the Ministry of Health in Jordan.  The sample of the study included Ramtha and Bashir hospitals.  It was conducted in cooperation with Partnership for Health Reform, funded by the USAID. This was published in 2000.

Conducted a study about governance in public and private universities in Jordan. This was sponsored by the European Community as part of the Tempus projects in the Mediterranean region.  This will be published in the near future.  Attended two conferences, one at the University of Granada, Spain and the other at Marseilles, France. At the first conference, in 2005 identified the terms of references of the paper and at the second conference in 2006,  presented the paper to a large number of people representing various countries.
